Zurn PEX Plumbing Systems Part 1

Over the past 4 decades, the use of plastics has dramatically changed the way Americans live. From food storage containers, to pacifiers, to beverage bottles & surgical supplies (like IV bags), we’ve trusted plastic to deliver human consumption products for many years. Therefore, it’s only logical that we look to plastic tubing to deliver our hot & cold water in today’s new homes. ZurnPEX plumbing systems, as in the past, are at the forefront of this evolutionary process. The PEX Plumbing and Radiant Heating Systems of Zurn Industries proudly manufactures both brass insert fittings and cross-linked polyethylene tubing. We feel this provides ZurnPEX plumbing systems the highest level of quality control in the industry.

Im in canada, and the old plastic tubing your talking about is called Poly B(Butelene) There is not lawsuit and heat has no effect on it. It has more forgiveness than copper and the expander tool your talking about is commonly know as WIRSBO. Copper is still my choice though because it is straiter neater and been around for a hundred years plus

excellent. I have used plastic pipe with brass fittings and never had a problem.
It is just like any other plumbing product. As long as it is installed correctly you won’t have problems.
But this stuff is great. color coded. easy to install. No dangerous blow torch or numerous fittings. No toxic fumes from glues (PVC/CPVC).

pex is now allowed in Illinois surprise, surprise (nobody selling it? (heard about it in downstate continuing education). pex is every where in az. They mostly use a plastic ring and a expander tool (expand the ring and pipe at same time, slip the brass fitting inside the pipe, 5 seconds later the pex contracts with the ring and done. Takes a while getting use to, but, that is the way it is done in az., above and under ground. Im licensed in both states as a plumber and plumbing contractor

you are thinking of PB or polybutaline. the pipe was actually fine, they still use it everywhere else in the world (you know places that don’t sue you for everything) it was the fittings. I’m not going to name names but you can do a search one major oil company ended up paying a lot of money to a lot of people.

I live in the south and have repiped and repaired many poly-butaline(probably not spelled correct)pipes. And you are right there was a class action lawsuit.(never heard of any actual homeowners getting any money though) The pipe is grey in color and the biggest problem was the fittings not the actual pipe. Pipe installed with copper fittings seemed fine but most of the major issues I found was the plastic fittings used(cracking).Pex makes a pex to poly transition fitting!

  7. SlickManChoux says:

I would use it only on floor heating .
THOSE pipes bursts on high pressure especially on hot water.

  8. ls1phsyco says:

I’ve heard alot that there is a big loss of pressure with this product.

what ur dad has is mostlikely the wirsbo tool it streaches the pipe if that it that the same kind of pex we use

  10. PolyrhythmIndustries says:

I don’t know about a lawsuit for perhaps the connection method, but my dad is a plumber and he uses a PEX expander tool and appropriate fittings (different from the method in this video). He’s never had a problem with them.

  11. Koogz406 says:

dont use the plastic fittings but the colored pex is good with the clamps…its easy

  12. masterplumbermark says:

This reminds me of the old poly-propeline that was out back in the 80s….
I have heard that their already is a class action law suit on this product??

    Is this true??
