What’s in the large box?
(Grumbles) New faucet for the kitchen sink.
(About time, it’s been leaking for two months!)
Only take me but an hour or so.
(Glancing at the clock, it’s 12:00 noon, I’d wager about four hours…perhaps more.)
I need to get my tools.
May I help? (I’m waving a paint brush, but figure I’d best offer.)
Naw, piece of cake.
Just call if you need help, I’ll be in the back painting.
(I manage to get to the laundry room…)
Where is the plumbers tape?
(Sigh.) In my little tool box.
OK, what about the crescent wrench?
In your workshop. (The paint is drying on the brush.)
Exiting once again to continue my painting…I hear many curses!
*************** blasted plumbing!
(Sweetly…) Problems? Perhaps I ought to stand by?
Can’t get the ******* fittings loose!
(Twenty minutes later, extracting myself from under the sink, knuckles bleeding…) Think I got them started. Your turn!

(I’m perched on a kitchen chair, sipping cold coffee.) Better replaced than paying a large water bill.
OK, hand me the new faucet. (By now, four hours have passed, the kitchen floor is rather wet and slippery and covered with strange fittings. New unit is in place, not completely centered…I poke at it a bit…he’s attaching the pipes.)
Hot is left, cold right…correct?
(At my last reincarnation that appeared to be the case.) I do recall when I was in Mexico thirty years ago, they reversed that order. Took some getting used to!
Got it! Try the handle, see if we have water pressure.
(I do so…and can’t control my laughter!) Sure do, but the hot is now on the right and the cold is on the left…you…(I can’t finish.)

I do write poetry, but often write such incidents which do (truly) make up our life. We need humor in our lives, else where would we be?
