   So a few of the sink handles at the house broke off (the house is ~ten years old). Have you ever tried to figure out what faucet model you have? Especially in a house you didn’t purchase new. So I spent a few days looking at tiny pictures on the Internet, and finally figuring out I have Moen faucets that list at ~$260 each (hunh?).

   So I had the choice of buying a few sets of cheap faucets at a big box store (for ~$30 each), or trying to repair the broken parts. Moen’s site wasn’t particularly helpful – but with enough clicking, I was able to find a PDF that showed the innards of the faucet, and the model number for the replacement parts (MOEN 97556). I was fairly stunned at the price, I mean, $13 for two pieces of plastic, two screws, two steel washers, and two plastic washers – that’s outrageous. And the way this package works, it includes one Hot water knob, and one Cold water knob. You can *only* use them for the respective knob.

   In my situation, I had three bad hot water knobs, and one bad cold water knob. So I purchased three of these kits, and now have ‘leftovers’.

   The actual change if fairly simple. It took about ten minutes per knob to pull out the old pieces, and screw in the new ones.

   So why a three? Due to the price of the parts, and the difficulty in figuring it all out (this is a statement about Moen- I mean – stamp a NAME on the PART).

   I’m very happy with Amazon – they had the product at the best price (when adding in the free shipping option). They shipped quickly, and most importantly – they had the part available.
