We had had a clog in one of our bathroom sinks for the past few weeks. I guess you could call it a “slow drain,” where the basin fills up fast and takes a long time to drain out. My wife checked the trap, which was clear, and we’d tried all the traditional chemicals, to no avail. This weekend I found this, a much better answer to our drain troubles, and it doesn’t even have any chemicals to dump into the water supply.
The product is basically a 16″ plastic strip with a bunch of teeth on it. You stick the Zip It down the drain, and slowly pull it back up. I pulled up enough hair and other gunk to make me think I had lost a hamster down there at some point. I used the Zip It to clean out all the drains in the house, and then tossed it. It’s disposable! Consider this product Mike V approved!
I am not the most handy person around, as my wife can attest. My greatest accomplishment as a homeowner was installing some dimmer switches without burning the house down. Of course my lowest point was falling through the ceiling, from the attic. So any easy household tool that can make me a hero is a very valuable find, indeed. Before calling a plumber or buying chemicals for your shower or bathroom sink clogs, try this product first. It really works!

I have used this product several times over the last few years. It is difficult to find, thus the reason I am searching on line. I suggest you wear gloves because hair balls, soap and body debris create a slimy mess. So, I grab the rubber gloves and a small bag. I take the hair that I get out of my drain and throw it a small bag and then run the Zip It down the drain a few more times looking for additional clumps. It works like a dream. No chemicals and it takes just a few minute. The worse part is looking at the clumps. : )

Someone gave me one of these years ago, and it has been the best thing for getting hair out of drains. It’s narrow, flexible, and simple to stick down a drain, and the little teeth grab all the hair as it comes up. I’m sure there are other tools that are better for serious clogs, but this was great for preventing small clogs from ever becoming big ones. The one I had finally broke this past year, and my small clogs keep escalating.
I’ve been searching for another one. I had no idea what it was called and haven’t been able to find it in the local hardware stores. I have only finally found it here after searching through pages and pages of drain cleaning tools. I definitely recommend this.

I just bought this today from Home Depot for $2.19 willing to try it on my bathroom drain that was clogged pretty bad. We used liquid plumber and other chemicals trying to unplug it with no success. (Liquid chemicals are pretty expensive by the way)
My girlfriend was going to call a plumber but we were going to try a mini snake unclogger that cost 7 bucks but it looked a little cheap. This thing looks pretty cheap itself since its pretty much a big zip tie thats cut up to have little hooks. Anyhow I used it on my bathroom drain and it pulled out a ton of yucky muddy hair balls. We then used it on our other bathroom that wasn’t clogged as bad and we got a ton of stuff unclogged as well!! Both sinks drain perfectly now.
Many snake type uncloggers usually push the clog through. this one pulls the clogs out. Be prepared with a papertowel to put all the stuff in. Be prepared to be grossed out!
I am going to use this everytime now before buying chemicals.

The product works, but it is a challenge to use. The problem I have is that my sink “stopper” is not removable. So, I have to work around it when I’m trying to unplug the drain. The Zip-It has a tendency to catch on any edges, making the process tedious and time-consuming. But, it does what it’s supposed to, and it keeps me from having to dump caustic fluids down my drain. I like it.

this product worked very well to remove (what turned out to be) a huge hair clog from a shower drain. i had already tried chemical drain cleaning, which did not fix the problem. the drain was very sluggish, with water collecting to your ankles during a shower. this product really worked, and saved me from calling a plumber. After having this for a while, I will add to this review that it is still working well. I cleaned it using an old piece of velcro. Stick the old velcro to the end and it will rip the small hairs off- which are very hard to pick out. (like getting lint or pills off with tape).

I am skeptical by nature and especially about TV products. The marketing is often less than honest. Well, the turbo snake actually works just as seen on TV. Work it past the stopper and into the drain, give it a few turns of the wrist, and pull back a clog of hair. Fast, simple, and can be mounted under the sink on the cabinet door. Who could ask for more?

I found the tool removed larger clogs easily. Once the snake is inserted into the drain, I had trouble rotating the head. I’m not sure how thoroughly the pipe was cleared, but the drain was unclogged.
